What this privacy policy covers

This privacy policy pertains to the use of the EM Assistant website at emassistant.net, all android apps, and all ios apps. This privacy policy covers how EM Assistant (“EM Assistant”, We”, “Us”, or “Our”) treats personal information that EM Assistant collects and receives through the website emassistant.net and all EM Assistant mobile apps (collectively, the “Service” or “Services”). It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address or phone number. Children under 13 are not permitted to use the Service, and so this privacy policy makes no provision for children’s use of the site.

Information collected through technology and how it is used

EM Assistant ICS 214 Android App

EM Assistant’s ICS 214 Android App does not collect any information from User while User is not logged in. All data is stored locally until User registers and signs in to EM Assistant online services.

Information you provide to us

In order to obtain access to information, services, or products provided by us through our online services you may be required to provide personal data. This information remains the sole property of User, as between EM Assistant and User (User Information), subject to other terms of this agreement. User grants EM Assistant a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to modify, store, transmit and otherwise use the User information for purposes of EM Assistant performing under this agreement.

Information sharing and disclosure

EM Assistant may be required to disclose personally identifiable information or protected health information under special circumstances, such as to comply with subpoenas or when your actions violate the EM Assistant Terms of Service.

EM Assistant may share demographic information with business partners, such as “The average size of an organization using EM Assistant is 30 users”. No personally identifiable information or protected health information will ever be used without your permission (i.e., we will ask you before using a quote or testimonial).

Certain non-personal data may be used in an aggregated or anonymized fashion for research to improve our services over time and provide improved information for others. For example, allowing EM Assistant’s researchers and data analysts to analyze fire travel data from incidents to be able to help predict fire behavior for future fire incidents.

EM Assistant does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies for promotional purposes except to provide products or services you’ve requested or when we have your permission.

With your consent, we do share your name, email, and/or phone number with certain partners we may work with. For example, we use a third-party for sending email and text message alerts. If you would not like your information shared with these partners, uncheck the box when asked this option or contact us via the contact form on this site.

It may be necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of EM Assistant’s terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

We will transfer information about you if EM Assistant is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, EM Assistant will notify you by email or by putting a prominent notice on the EM Assistant website before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We use other third parties such as a chat service provider to provide customer service to you, and a credit card processing company to bill you for goods and services, an email service provider to send out emails on our behalf. When you sign up for these services, we will specify what personally identifiable information is being shared as necessary for the third party to provide that service.

Where and how we store your personal data

Your data is stored within the United States in the Amazon Web Services’ cloud hosting environment (us-east-2). All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. It may also be processed by EM Assistant employees for the purposes of supporting customers and furthering the development of EM Assistant’s software.

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your personal data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement. Please contact us if you wish to obtain information concerning these safeguards. We will store your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes of providing access to our services, as required by law, and for the exercise or defense of any legal claims.

Safeguarding your personal data

The security and confidentiality of your personal data are extremely important to us. While we follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personally identifiable information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Accessing, updating, or correcting your personal information

Referrals

If you choose to use our referral service to tell a friend about our website, we will ask you for your friend’s name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting them to use our Services. EM Assistant stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. Your friend may contact us via our Contact Us page to request that we remove this information from our database.

Collection and Use of 3rd Party Personal Information

You may also provide personal information about other people, such as their name, email address and phone number. It is your responsibility to get permission from anyone whose personal information you provide to us. We will only use that personal information for the purpose of completing your request.

Single Sign-On

You can log in to portions of EM Assistant Services using sign-in services such as Google OAuth or Microsoft Account. These services will authenticate your identity and provide you the option to share certain personal information with us such as your name and email address to pre-populate your personal details.
